Researchers at the University of Maryland just ï¬nished a study on what they call feature fatigue — the frustration that occurs when consumers are overwhelmed and confused by the number of features on their electronic devices. €˜ €˜Companies can actually make more money in the long run by making products that are simpler than what customers think they want.” The smarter strategy? Design simple, dedicated devices like the iPod that do one thing very well. The hardest decisions in product development? What NOT to do.
